Ernest Darkoh

Dr. Ernest Darkoh is an internationally-known expert in strategic planning, systems and large-scale programme implementation. Ernest’s recent work has focused on using new cutting-edge technologies, big data and analytics to radically improve healthcare delivery and catalyse broader development sector outcomes. Ernest has worked with governments, international normative organizations and the private sector across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and North America.

Ernest was recently also recognized by New African Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Africans. He was elected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. He was also named one of eighteen “Global Health Heroes” by TIME Magazine. He is a frequent plenary speaker on strategies for implementing large-scale health and social sector interventions.

Before co-founding BroadReach in 2003, Ernest served as the first operations manager of Botswana’s national antiretroviral program, currently regarded as one of the most successful long term programs in the world. Prior to Botswana, Ernest worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company.

Ernest earned his BS in Chemistry and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School and his MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his MBA at the Said School of Business at Oxford University as a Fulbright Scholar.

John Sargent

Dr. John Sargent is recognized globally as a healthcare solutions thought-leader in market development strategy, health systems analytics and optimisation, and public-private partnerships in emerging markets. John consults to governments, multinational companies and donor organisations. He is a popular keynote speaker at industry conferences. He has been recognized by the World Economic Forum as one of the Social Entrepreneurs of the year in 2015, by Frost & Sullivan with the Visionary Leadership Award in Healthcare, and by Devex as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Leaders in Development.

John co-founded BroadReach™ in 2003 and worked to secure significant contracts with USAID: $100 million contract for South Africa, the Kenya USAID APHIA II Western project, the USAID Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems program, the USAID AIDSTAR-One project, and the Management and Leadership Training Program in Zambia. He currently serves as BroadReach’s co-CEO and oversees its analytics and technology business.

Prior to co-founding BroadReach™, John was a management consultant specializing in strategic and clinical operations projects for top academic and private US hospitals. His last position before founding BroadReach was Senior Director and National Practice Leader in Clinical Operations for the Advisory Board Company (ABCO), a leading US healthcare think-tank. Additionally, has served as member of the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Association. John earned an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, a master’s degree from Oxford University as a Fulbright Scholar and an MD from Harvard Medical School.

Alan Kalton

Chief Commercial Officer

Alan jointly steers BroadReach’s specialized technology enabled management solutions efforts, consolidating Technology, Client Success, Client Solutions and Product Management to effectively increase the overall value creation and client satisfaction.

Alan is an analytic leader and management professional with over 25 years of experience working directly for major healthcare and pharmaceutical clients, and across a number of consulting organizations.  Prior to joining BroadReach, he was one of Ernst & Young’s Global Analytics leaders for EMEA and APAC with a special focus on Africa.  He has served as the Commercial Director for IBM Research – Africa, and has held senior strategic roles at organizations such as GSK, Novartis, STERIS and marketRx across Africa and Europe.

Ruan Viljoen

Chief Technology Officer

Ruan jointly steers BroadReach’s specialized technology enabled management solutions efforts, to ensure that the technology that is developed meets the needs of our clients.

He is responsible for the execution and success of BroadReach’s technology strategy, product roadmap and business plan, product engineering and product operations to support the company’s aggressive growth and expansion plans.

Ruan has over 15 years’ experience in all aspects of the software development and support life-cycle: Product Engineering, Professional Services and Support on mission critical 24×7 systems. Prior to joining BroadReach he held the role of Senior Vice President, Software Engineering for ACI Worldwide.

Kate Burnett

Legal Counsel & Head of Corporate Governance

Kate Burnett leads the Legal, Contracts & Grants Department, responsible for all legal, entity & corporate governance, contracts, risk & compliance for the organization’s global operations.

Kate is an admitted attorney in the State of Florida & the Southern U.S. Federal District & has been practising for 22 years. Prior to joining us, Kate was U.S. in-house Legal & Contracts Manager at Engel & Völkers, the leading European real-estate franchise group. Prior to that she spent 10 years in civil private practice in Miami, Florida, specializing in products liability, class action toxic torts & successfully defending all-lines insurance litigation on behalf of major U.S. insurance carriers. Kate began her career in international law & in-house contracting with large independent power producers in Hong Kong & Indonesia. She hails from London, U.K. but considers herself a global citizen.

Siraaj Adonis

Chief Human Resource Officer

Siraaj Adonis is responsible for Human Resources, with a directive to nurture a high performance, innovative and entrepreneurial culture for the organization’s global operations.

Siraaj has over 14 years of experience in human resources of which 9 years is in the healthcare sector. Prior to joining BroadReach, Siraaj was the National HR Manager for Equra Health, a South African company providing administrative, operational and strategic management services in the cancer care domain. He began his career with the Medi-Clinic Group.

Louise Allen

Vice President, Client Success

Louise is responsible for formulating solutions to solve our clients’ problems, using a combination of our technical expertise, process accelerators and technology enablers. Under her leadership, the specialized Client Success team focuses on understanding clients’ definition of success and responds to assist our clients to use process, data and analytics to inform and enhance performance.

Louise brings over two decades of healthcare experience, in both the public and private sectors. She joins BroadReach from Deloitte where she formed part of the Actuarial and Analytics practice, specializing in public health. She is deeply committed to improving health outcomes in under serviced populations across Africa.

Wisdom Mkandawire

Finance Director

Wisdom Mkandawire is responsible for the financial leadership of BroadReach. He provides oversight and best practice guidance for the global finance teams across the organization.

Wisdom has an extensive background in the financial management of international development organizations funded by USAID and DFID. Prior to joining BroadReach, he worked at AfghanAid in Kabul and mothers2mothers in South Africa. In addition to his sector expertise, Wisdom has led large organizations and has very strong systems experience and technical financial credentials.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) recognized by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Malawi and also a member of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA).

Peter Graves

Vice President, Solutions

Peter is responsible and accountable for achieving BroadReach’s client acquisition and revenue growth objectives.

Peter has over 30 years’ experience building and managing successful international projects for private companies and non-profit organizations. His expertise combines strategic planning, business development and project management into a fully integrated operations approach. His career includes building private business in Africa, expanding democracy in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and increasing access to finance across the globe. Prior to joining BroadReach, Peter was Senior Vice President of the World Council of Credit Unions, in charge of business development and project management.

Todd Malone

Deputy Chief of Party for the SA PEPFAR Program

Todd Malone is Deputy Chief of Party for the PEPFAR South Africa Programme. Todd’s strong academic grounding, extensive leadership and managerial roles, and effective engagement with local and international development partners, adds to the wealth of experience he brings to this position.

Prior to joining BroadReach, Todd worked with Pact for nine years in key leadership roles including Chief of Party in Swaziland, Chief of Party in Tanzania, and Regional Vice President for Africa, Latin America, and Global Projects overseeing 20+ countries implementing over $100M in annual project activities.

Mandy Dube

Program Director, Integrated Decision and Analytics Support (IDeAS)

Mandy is the Program Director for the Integrated Decision and Analytics Support Program, based in Zambia. In her role, Mandy governs the health information integration and interoperability of health information from the national Electronic Health Records system to improve healthcare delivery and achieve epidemiological control of HIV and TB.

Mandy’s expertise draws from her 14-year career in public health programs, amongst others, PATH, where she played the leading role in Zambia’s Better Immunization Data Initiative, following on from Chief of Party and Programme Manager.

Pascal Mwele

Program Director, Regional Action through Data (RAD)

Pascal is the Regional Program Director for the Regional Action through Data (RAD) Program and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program with a particular focus on providing leadership, management, strategic guidance and facilitating collaboration with USAID, Regional Economic Communities such as IGAD and WAHO (an institution of ECOWAS), stakeholder governments and other partner institutions.

Pascal brings a wealth of public sector technology management and project management experience having worked in diverse sectors including health and education. He also possesses solid program experience, having supported the implementation of projects funded by international organizations such as the World Bank, UNAIDS and Oxfam Great Britain.

Bonnie Medeossi

Bonnie is responsible for leading the Client Engagement Team to become a trusted problem solver and advisors to our clients. She oversees the strategy, management, measurement and overall execution of the Client Engagement responsibilities to ensure that client value creation and overall experience are our top priorities.

Bonnie brings a wealth of public health experience and a deep understanding of clients’ needs which she gained during her career in public health, strengthen health systems through collaboration with governments, partners and funding organizations, as well as program implementation, quality assurance and clinical trial research.

Bernard Katz

Senior Manager, New Product Design

Bernard Katz is responsible for the conceptualisation and design of the BroadReach Vantage platform, applying more than 16 years’ experience in innovation management, enterprise engineering and business improvement.

Before BroadReach, Bernard was with Indutech, an innovation management consulting company. He has been involved in numerous innovations and business improvements in the financial services, government, health care and information technology sectors. In 2010, he earned the Southern African Institute of Industrial Engineer’s (SAIIE) President’s Award for outstanding service to the Institute.
