Dr. Ernest Darkoh is an internationally-known expert in strategic healthcare systems planning, development and large-scale programme implementation, including Botswana’s highly-acclaimed Antiretroviral Treatment Program, the first African national HIV treatment programme which serves as a successful model today.
Ernest advises governments across Africa and the globe on the development of public and private health programmes. International organisations, including the World Bank, WHO, UNICEF multinational companies, also rely on his expertise.
Ernest was named one of eighteen “Global Health Heroes” by TIME Magazine and featured in the acclaimed PBS documentary, “Rx for Survival.” He was elected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and appointed to the United States President’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA). He is a frequent plenary speaker on strategies for implementing large-scale health interventions with limited resources.
Before co-founding BroadReach in 2003, Ernest served as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company in New York and South Africa.
Ernest earned his BS in Chemistry and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School and his MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his MBA at the Said School of Business at Oxford University as a Fulbright Scholar.
Dr. John Sargent is recognized globally as a healthcare solutions thought-leader in market development strategy, health systems analytics and optimisation, large-scale patient education programs and public-private partnerships in emerging markets.
John consults to governments, multinational companies and donor organisations. He is a popular keynote speaker at industry conferences.
A member of the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Association, he was also nominated to the Devex Top 40 Under 40 Leaders in Development in 2010/11.
John co-founded BroadReach in 2003 and worked to secure significant contracts with USAID: $100 million contract for South Africa, the Kenya USAID APHIA II Western project, the USAID Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems program, the USAID AIDSTAR-One project, and the Management and Leadership Training Program in Zambia. He also works closely with global Life Science companies on strategic and technical market-access programmes.
Prior to co-founding BroadReach, John consulted on strategic and operational issues related to multiple disease areas for public and private organisations in developed and emerging markets.
John earned an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, a master’s degree from Oxford University as a Fulbright Scholar and MD from Harvard Medical School.
Siraaj is responsible for Human Resources, with a directive to nurture a high performance, innovative and entrepreneurial culture.
Siraaj has over 10 years of experience in human resources in the healthcare sector. Prior to joining BroadReach, Siraaj was the National HR Manager for Equra Health, a South African company providing administrative, operational and strategic management services in the cancer care domain. He began his career with the Medi-Clinic Group.

Prior to joining us, Kate was US in-house Legal & Contracts Manager at Engel & Völkers, the leading European real-estate franchise group. She spent eight years in civil private practice, successfully defending all-lines insurance litigation on behalf of major US insurance carriers. Kate began her career in international law and in-house contracting.

Bernard is responsible for the conceptualisation and design of the BroadReach software platform, applying more than 14 years experience in innovation management, enterprise engineering and business improvement.
Before BroadReach, Bernard was with Indutech, an innovation management consulting company. He has been involved in numerous innovations and business improvements in the financial services, government, health care and information technology sectors. In 2010, he earned the Southern African Institute of Industrial Engineer’s (SAIIE) President’s Award for outstanding service to the Institute.

Colleen brings technical and business expertise in health care initiatives to her role as Client Delivery Director. In her position, she is responsible for the development and execution of the end-to-end delivery process for clients globally, including the configuration and deployment of BroadReach Vantage, as well as of professional services.
Prior to joining BroadReach, Colleen worked for a consulting firm providing technical expertise for the design, instruction and operations of various public health solutions. She also worked for the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative where she developed a demand forecasting and quantification model, and she was a Senior Health Officer for the Ministry of Health, Botswana African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnership. Colleen launched her career in the Leadership Development Program at Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceuticals.

Mary-Ann brings extensive experience in the administrative and regulatory aspects of medical research and drug development to her role as Operations Director, in which Mary-Ann is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of country operations.
Prior to joining BroadReach, Mary-Ann started African Clinical Research Organisation (ARCO), South Africa’s first full-service, locally-owned black economic empowerment clinical research organisation with staff in South Africa, Kenya and Ghana. She has multiple professional pharmaceutical and clinical association affiliations and has held leadership roles, including chairperson of the South African Clinical Research Association.

Lukas brings a wealth of corporate finance experience to his role as CFO Global, with more than 15 years at an executive/ board level.
His experience spans across a variety of areas, which include internal and external auditing, financial administration, governance, financial systems, procurement and logistics as well as grant management. Before joining BroadReach, Lukas was the CFO (South Africa) for the marketing and communications agency Young & Rubicam, where he held various board positions, in the holding entities as well as above-the-line and digital agencies.
Prior to this he held senior roles that included heading up the internal audit unit for AngloGold Ashanti West Rand Region as well as playing a significant role in the establishment of the Aurum Institute for Health Research. Since 2006 he has served on the non-profit hospice MES Impilo’s management board.

Karin is responsible for identifying and managing funded and commercial growth opportunities, building upon her extensive experience in managing PEPFAR programs across Africa and USAID and CDC teams in 14 countries.
She comes to BroadReach after 12 years at USAID, as the Division Chief, Health Systems for the Integrated Health Office in Mozambique and the Professional Development and Training Specialist for the Bureau for Global Health in Washington, DC. She has also worked for the World Bank Group, the Ministry of Health, UN/East Timor Public Administration and the US Peace Corps. Karin is the recipient of multiple awards.

Peter has over 30 years’ experience building and managing successful international projects for private companies and non-profit organizations. His career includes building private business in Africa, expanding democracy in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and increasing access to finance across the globe. Prior to joining BroadReach, Peter was Senior Vice President of the World Council of Credit Unions, in charge of business development and project management.

Prior to joining BroadReach he held the role of Senior Vice President, Software Engineering for ACI Worldwide.
